Growing Together Since 1990
A Legacy Built on Strong Values
A little history behind Yellow River Farms
Where Family and Farming Flourish
The idea began the summer of 1990 when the late Wayne Eichelberg and son-in-law Bill Scherf planted a garden that could supply the whole neighborhood with delicious farm-fresh produce. With a small stand outside the home of Wayne and Rose Ann, Rose Ann and their daughter Gina began selling produce.
In 1992, we moved to our current location, the family-owned barn built in 1902, and have remained and grown our business there. Bill and Gina, along with adding new ideas to the market, also added helping hands, Evan and Ryan Scherf. You would see them playing or helping run the market, and many customers watched them grow into the men they are today.
You will still see Ryan working on the farms as he continues his occupation as a truck driver and farmer, owning his own farming business, trucking business, and working at the family farm, continuing to make things run smoothly. You will run into Ryan and wife Aerielle at Yellow River Farms, willing to help the customers at all times.
Evan has his own lawn care and landscaping business that continues to thrive. Evan's twins, Laramie and Kolt, are Grandma's shadows in the market and are always willing to help the customers carry their things.
Rosie will be in the market visiting with the customers that we have built a lasting relationship with over the years.
Our focus is to create lasting memories not only for our family but also for the wonderful people of our community who enjoy their time at the farm; may it be shopping in the market or coming to the Fall Extravaganza for some great family time.
